SHAH ALAM, April 4 — The recorded number of dengue cases in Selangor has dropped and no deaths related to the illness has been recorded as of March, says Selangor state executive councillor Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.

The State Health, Welfare, Women Empowerment and Family Committee chairman had denied the claims by Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng Mei Sze that there had been a spike in dengue cases in the Subang Jaya constituency.

“If there had been an increase, the local authorities would be tasked to take immediate action and there would be fogging operations in the dengue hotspots,” she told SelangorKini when recently contacted.

Dr Siti Mariah, however, had urged the public to use the extra time during the movement control order (MCO) period to keep their environment and housing area clean.

“Parents are encouraged to teach their children on how to keep the surrounding area of their homes clean and free from becoming breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitos,” she said.

Recently, Michelle had on Facebook presented a list of several hotspot dengue areas under the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) between March 22 to 28.

The recorded areas included USJ 15, USJ 1, Taman Subang Mas, Batu Tiga, Taman Kinrara and Taman Perindustrian Puchong with a total of 316 cases.
