SHAH ALAM, April 2 — The Selangor opposition pact has welcomed the additional RM30,000 allocation for state representatives, which was announced yesterday in the second phase of the state stimulus package, Selangor Cares Packages 2.0.

Port Klang assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri said the second allocation would enable the state representatives to deliver aid to the people of Selangor who are affected by the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.

“Many of those who depend on a daily wage are affected when they are not able to continue their work or with their businesses. So the target group that requires help increases,” he said.

Kota Anggerik assemblyman Mohd Najwan Halimi said the extra allocation is much needed to ease the workflow in delivering food and aid to the people.

“We can use it to immediately channel aid to the people, especially during these difficult moments,” he said.

State Opposition leader Rizam Ismail had also welcomed the initiative and had expressed his hope that the Selangor government would ease the procedure for all of the state representatives.

“This is the time for us to stand united regardless of political difference because at the end of the day, safeguarding the welfare of the people is the ultimate goal,” he said.

Rizam had also supported the 30 per cent salary cut for state leaders and top officials to be contributed to the Selangor Covid-19 Fund, which will kick-off with a total collection of RM8.07 million.

Yesterday, Menteri Besar Dato’ Amirudin Shari had announced an additional allocation of RM272.5 million in the second phase of Selangor Cares Package 2.0, which brings a total RM400 million of funds to be used to cushion the economic impact in the state caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
