Health ministry begins survey on three villages in Hulu Langat

KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 — The Health Ministry (MOH) has today begun conducting surveys on three out of the seven villages in Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat, that was placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO), Harian Metro reported.

Kajang district police chief ACP Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said his department is assisting the MOH officials in terms of security, as the survey is expected to take up to three days to complete.

"Entering the third day of the EMCO, a total of eight officers and 53 personnel have been stationed in the area, which includes facilitating the MOH in carrying out the survey.

"Residents who are found to have symptoms would be ordered to undergo health screening at the Desa Sungai Lui clinic," he was quoted by the Malay daily today.

Ahmad Dzaffir said the total 3,900 residents in the area have complied with the EMCO, so far.

"No activities were held within a five-kilometre radius in the area. The public has been very cooperative and the police are doing their part by conducting 24-hour rounds to ensure the public observe the EMCO," he added.

The Federal government had on March 30 imposed the EMCO on seven villages in Sungai Lui — Kampung Batu 21, Kampung Batu 22, Kampung Batu 23, Kampung Batu 24, Kampung Gemi, Kampung Orang Asli Paya Lebar and Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Gabai.

This was after 71 positive Covid-19 cases were detected among 274 residents of the Maahad Tahfiz AnNabawiyyah at Batu 23 in Sungai Lui.
