EAC appoints two more economists

KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 — The Economic Action Council (EAC) has appointed two new members, renowned banking figure Datuk Bridget Lai @ Bridget Anne Chin Hung Yee from Sabah and Sarawak Chamber of Bumiputera Entrepreneurs chairman, Datu Abang Halmi Ikhwan in a meeting today.

Following the appointments, the EAC now comprises 13 members, said the Prime Minister’s Office in a statement today.

During the meeting, the council had also focused on the feedback and complaints from the small and medium enterprises which have been adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

To ease the burden on tenants, owners of private business premises have been urged to consider providing rental discounts, moratorium or exemptions to business owners who are unable to operate.

The Finance Ministry’s Economic Stimulus Implementation and Coordination Between National Agencies Unit had also presented its monitoring report on the Economic Stimulus Package which had been launched to ensure that the government’s objectives are achieved.
