SHAH ALAM, March 20 — KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) has distributed 997 hand sanitisers to all of its subcontractors to be used by the drivers, workers and supervisors of the compactors and roll on, roll off (RORO) bins.
In a statement today, the wholly-owned subsidiary company of Menteri Besar Incorporated under the Selangor government has also taken several steps to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus Covid-19.
KDEBWM managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said this includes having the drivers, workers and supervisors to be equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE) while carrying out their tasks.
"The drivers and workers are also advised to minimise contact with the public. They are encouraged to bring their own meals to work.
"They are also advised to not spend to much time in public areas and to focus on the operations to housing areas and office premises," the statement read.
Ramli said those who are office-based are allowed to carry out their work from home and were told to cancel or postpone any meetings held out of the office until the situation stabilises.
He also reminded that all of the staff and subcontractor crew are to practise personal hygiene and take preventive measures from being infected by the virus.
"In line with the movement control order announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on March 16, solid waste management and sewerage are categorised as essential services. Therefore, the daily cleaning and waste collection operations in Selangor will continue as per schedule.
"KDEBWM is wary of the safety and health of all of its subcontractors and employees and will continue to work together and comply to the relevant authorities' instructions to prevent the spread of the outbreak," the statement read.
