SHAH ALAM, Feb 28 — The civil servants in Selangor has to be more competitive and not prone to corrupt practices by emphasising on the metric-based key results area (KRA).

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said there should be a paradigm shift within the public service by discarding the opposition mentality and improving the efficiency of quality as well as the delivery of service to the people.

"Back in 2010, there may have been several incidents that took place, such as sabotage and preconceived idea, but this should not be happening anymore.

"Integrity and accountability have to be the culture maintained within the civil servants, not just by voicing it when taking the Anti-Corruption Pledge. I want the Selangor civil servants to be impenetrable against corruption," said Amiruddin in his address at the Selangor state assembly members’ retreat in Bandung, Indonesia, held from February 23 to 26.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said civil servants at all levels from top-down should be concerned of the public as to face the rapid global changes.

"Everything that is being applied by the state government should include public involvement and engagement.

"The bottom-up (public feedback) approach is very important as compared to top-down (orders from the top), particularly at a time where the public’s way of thinking and behaviour is moving away from the centralised power or the mainstream narrative," he added.
