STPM students in Selangor pass with flying colours

SHAH ALAM, Feb 26 — A total of 4,647 candidates in Selangor, who sat for the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), had passed the examination with flying colours, Berita Harian (BH) reported yesterday.

Selangor Education Department (JPN) deputy director Muhammad Radzi Abdullah said the total number is 97.59 per cent out of the total 4,762 post-secondary students that sat for the exam.

“The state average grade (GPN) was recorded at 2.63. Last year, 59 students scored a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.00, compared to 51 students the previous year.

“We have a total of 1,615 candidates who achieved a CGPA of 3.00 and above.

“Out of the 43 schools in Selangor involved with the examination, 14 schools achieved 100 per cent full grades,” he was quoted by the Malay daily.

Muhamad Radzi said overall, 14 subjects showed an increase in improvement as compared to the results in 2019.

He said Kolej Islam Sultan Alam Shah (KISAS) in Klang is ahead of other schools in Selangor.

“JPN is proud of the improvements achieved by schools in rural areas, especially those in the Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor districts,” he said.

Meanwhile, four students in Selangor were listed as the top students for the post-secondary exam.

Two candidates, Choo Yuan Zhang from Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) Katholik and Tristan Ganes from Kolej Tingkatan Enam Petaling Jaya, were ranked as the top students at the national level.

The other two top STPM students were Ooi Huey-En from SMJK Katholik and Agnetha Lee Xin Ran from Kolej Tingkatan Enam Petaling Jaya.
