SHAH ALAM - All parties need to work together to ensure the successful development of theatrical arts, thus contributing to the development of Selangor.

EXCO Culture, Tourism, Malay Civilization and Heritage, Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari said  theater is one of the potential attractions that could generate income for the state's progress.

"The State Government feels it's time to see the need for theater art development in a planned and effective way.

"It is as stated by Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari in the presentation of the Budget 2019 on the need to create art and culture masterplan so that existing potential can contribute to state development.

"This intention should not be achieved without a joint venture between the State Government, government and private agencies, non-governmental organizations as well as theaters in Selangor," he said.

This was said by Datuk Rashid at the Opening Ceremony of the Selangorku Theater Sunday 2018 at the Daeng Chelak Auditorium, Sultan Alam Shah Museum here yesterday.

He said the theatrical arts as one of the cultural branches also played an important role in the formation of a nation's civilization and identity and upholding the nation's heritage.

"A good welcoming for this theater week is a positive development in the State Government's efforts to intensify the arts and culture activities, especially theatrical arts in Selangor," he said.

Selangorku Theater week was held from 3 December until yesterday and was organized by the State Government in collaboration with the Selangor Customs and State Heritage Corporation (PADAT), Selangor State Cultural Council (MKN) and Shah Alam City Council (MBSA).
