SHAH ALAM, SEP 11: The State Government is actively implementing its long-term development plan which include requirements to stay competitive to maintain its economic excellence in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth.
Investment, Small & Medium Industries, Trade and Transport Exco, Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said it includes five core components as initiatives to solidify the state’s economic statbility.
“Selangor has a long-term plan to ensure Selangor’s economy remains ahead to become the highest national GDP contributor.
“Therefore, we have drawn-up a masterplan for Selangor’s industrial development by focusing on five fields which are electronics, electricals, life sciences, transportation and food.
"We are certain that this masterplan will strengthen Selangor’s position to be at its best in the coming years," he said at the Selangor-Asean Business Conference 2017 at Setia City Convention Center, today.
He was asked to comment on the state administration's commitment in ensuring that the state's economy remains strong compared to other states in the long term.
Last September 6, the Malaysian Statistics Department the 2016 GDP report which saw Selangor remained as the highest contributor with a percentage of 22.7 per cent.
This was followed by the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya with 15.3 percent and Sarawak in third place with 9.8 percent.
That achievement has put Selangor at the top for six consecutive years from 2012 until 2017.
Mohamed Azmin said, that achievement has boosted investors’ confidence in the State Government’s administration compared to the Federal.
"This positive growth is directly related to the state administration today that maintains the principle of accountability, integrity, opposition and rejection of corrupt practices as well as abuse of power which will give confidence to domestic and foreign investors," he said.
