PETALING JAYA, SEP 6: The reintroduction of coupon parking system is to temporarily compensate the issues with faulty machines.
Bukit Gasing Assemblyman, Rajiv Rishyakaran said, the coupon is helpful especially in areas with faulty parking payment machines, but if the machines are working then the public can use it as usual.
“The coupon system in temporary while a new parking system is introduced in Petaling Jaya soon.
“Both ways (payment machine and coupon) are acceptable as long as parking charges are paid.
“The locals’ concern is where to buy the coupons,” he said.
Talking to media at a parking coupon sale session in front of Public Bank in PJ Old Town, he said the system which was reintroduced this September 2017 maintains the existing parking charges at RM0.60 per hour.
According to him, so far there are 16 registered agents and locals can obtain the coupons at commercial premises.
Among the registered premises are Lian Hin Enterprise, Hin Huat Hung Tembikar Sdn Bhd, Advance OneStop Supplies, Pusat Khidmat Parlimen Petaling Jaya Selatan, Aninas Restaurant and Jockey Parking.
Locals can also buy a coupon booklet containing 10 tickets at RM6.00 at the Bukit Gasing State Legislative Assembly Office while those who are interested to become agents are also welcomed for assistance.
They may also register directly as agent at Level 1, Finance Section, Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) by bringing a short letter applying to become an agent, Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) documents and bank statement.
There are four main commercial areas in Bukit Gasing, Bandar Petaling Jaya, Petaling Jaya Old Town at Seksyen 14 with a high number of faulty parking payment machines.
Other than that, most of the machines in Seksyen 17 and Seksyen 8 in Petaling Jaya are working as usual.
The public is also advised to submit a proposal paper for a high-tech parking system in Petaling Jaya.
