Last July 26, Customs Director-General, Datuk Seri T Subromaniam claimed that the 12 local authorities in Selangor had sent ‘questionable’ GST statement causing the RM36 million claim payment to be delayed.

Local Government, New Village Development and Illegal Factory Legalisation Exco, Ean Yong Hian Wah is disappointed with the statement and urged Customs to use a more mature approach to resolve the issue.

Klang Municipal Council (MPK) Yang Dipertua (YDP), Dato’ Mohamad Yasid Bidin shares the view, that customs should not use the term ‘questionable’ as the documents we submitted in accordance with the procedure.

Meanwhile, the Subang Jaya Municipal Council YDP, Mohd Zulkarnain Che Ali said he will discuss with Selangor Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) for further action.

Head of Corporate and Public Relations for Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), Shahrin Ahmad said he is in the process of appointing a certified GST consultant to help resolve the claim exceeding RM13 million.
