SHAH ALAM, MAR 20: 100 students from Religious Primary Schools and Integrated KAFA took screenings organised by Taman Medan Constituency Service Centre with the cooperation from Malaysian Dyslexia Association.

Taman Medan Assemblyman, Haniza Talha said the screening is specially conducted for students with difficulties in learning, particularly for dyslexia.

She said, after the screening is done, an analysis will be done on the type of problem that the student has.

“I am giving priority to parents with dyslexic child who has been identified through screening. The rest depends on the application.

“This programme is conducted only in my Constituency but if there is high demand from parents to conduct this test in other areas, I shall propose for the State Government to implement this throughout Selangor,” she said in a statement in her Facebook page.

Haniza said, the parents whose children have been identified as dyslexic will be invited to attend a Dyslexia Seminar in April.

“Dyslexia is not a disease but it is one of the learning difficulties faced by children. Usually children face difficulties in learning such as reading, writing, spelling and counting skill.

“Therefore, dyslexia refers to those with difficulties to read and write although their thinking abilities are normal. There are learning techniques that can overcome this problem,” she said.
