KUALA LUMPUR, AUG 15: KEADILAN Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has filed a judicial review today to declassify the Auditor General’s Audit Report on 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Azmin, who is also Selangor Menteri Besar, stressed that the report should not be classified under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) 1972 and should be transparent to the public.

At the Kuala Lumpur High Court, Mohamed Azmin named Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as the first respondent; Auditor General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang (second respondent) and the Malaysian Government (third respondent).

“We demand the court declare that the first respondent had acted in conflict of interest and had instructed Ambrin to classify the report as an official secret.

“We also demand the court’s declaration that Ambrin’s classification of the report is against the law and ‘ultra vires’,” he said in a media conference at the Jalan Duta High Court lobby on August 15.

On March 3, Ambrin classified the audit report on 1MDB as OSA before submission to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Acting in capacity of Gombak Member of Parliament, Mohamed Azmin also applied for Mandamus Order which requires the respondent to reclassify the report to be made accessible to the public.

“In this issue, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has presented a detailed report on the abuse of 1MDB funds in the US.

“Therefore, it is my responsibility as an elected representative to demand that the audited report be made public,” he said.
